Distinguished Alumni

Dr. Barry C. Black  was elected the 62nd Chaplain of the United States Senate in 2003, the first African American and the first Seventh-day Adventist to hold this office. Prior to Capitol Hill, Chaplain Black served in the U.S. Navy for over 27 years, ending his distinguished career as the Chief of Navy Chaplains. Chaplain Black is an alumnus of 51ÊÓƵ College, and has earned Master of Arts degrees in Divinity, Counseling, and Management, and he has received a doctoral degree in Ministry and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Psychology. In 2006 he authored his autobiography entitled, From the Hood to the Hill and in 2011 The Blessing of Adversity.
